Every now and then when playing my XBOX 360 in HD, I think back to the not-so-high-definition days of NES and the joy I found with 8-16 bits of fun and fury. I love the fact that these are classics are being reborn on the iPhone.

Are there any other 80’s babies out there that have the same craving for some Duck Hunt or Double Dragon? If so, enjoy the trip down memory lane.

Fried Marketing: Increasing Web Traffic From a “Bacon Explosion”

Jan282009
Kipp Bodnar

In the spirit of the fried nature of our blog theme and name, I bring you a simple example of resourceful thinking translated into a marketing win. The two guys that run BBQaddicts.com needed more visitors, so that they could boost  advertising revenue.  What was the answer? Turning 2 pounds of bacon and 2 pounds of sausage into the Bacon Explosion.

Saw this snail crawling across a brick walkway.  Looked like he had somewhere important to go.  Got the video camera, slapped in some mood music with the help of Garage Band, and boom – nature film.  This is actual speed.  No slow mo here.  Notice the little ant hitching a ride off the right antenna.  He must not have been in a hurry.  Enjoy – Billy

Max’s Coding Corner: Hello World

Jan272009
Maximillian Hill

As part of the interactive department here at HM&P, we deal with all sorts of projects requiring all sorts of technologies. Sometimes a client wants a plain HTML site and sometimes they want Flash with embedded videos. I’d like to dig into some of these technologies to give you, my humble reader, a better understanding of what it is that we (interactive types) do. This includes everything related to interactive work like (X)HTML/CSS, the Internet, how a web page gets to you, and so much more.

As an interactive programmer, I often take for granted my plethora of knowledge about how what we do works. For example, if you were to ask me how the internet works, and more specifically, how the web page you want to see gets from a server to your monitor, I’d launch into a long explanation with terms like ‘routers’, ‘DNS’ and ‘IP Address’. And this would mean very little to most people. So here in Max’s Coding Corner, I’ll try to bring the lingo down to a level where everyone can follow along and better understand what’s going on.

For the inaugural post, I’m going to pose a few questions that should be asked about every web site.
