Let’s be honest, who is NOT thinking about food this week?
As we are giving thanks for many things in our lives we are certainly also giving thanks for the smorgasbord* of food that will adorn the table in two short days time.
*Quick history lesson: Smorgasbord comes from the Swedish words smorgas (open sandwich) and bord (table).
According to Merriam-Webster:
1 : a luncheon or supper buffet offering a variety of foods and dishes (as hors d’oeuvres, hot and cold meats, smoked and pickled fish, cheeses, salads, and relishes)
2 : an often large heterogeneous mixture
What is your favorite dish in the traditional Thanksgiving smorgasbord?

Chocolate pecan pie. Sarah- you didn’t mention your favorite?
Sweet Potato Casserole!
So sweet, yet still has a healthy kick of Vitamin A (makes me feel better about going back for seconds….or thirds)
Sweet potato casserole — health food cleverly disguised as a dessert!
Homemade Mac’n'Cheese.
Stuffing!…that’s one of my holiday favorites. Sweet Potato Pie is a close second!
The whole entire meal! Everything all together makes the most perfect Thanksgiving dinner. I love getting together with the family, eating all the deliciousness, having a drink or two and we can’t forget the array of desserts that we can’t fit, yet we eat them anyway! It’s the clean up that’s the most dreaded, since we’re so tired from eating all that food
Happy Thanksgiving!
No one has mention mashed potatoes and gravy – which is my fav non-dessert.
Yum…homemade gravy….
Actually, I’m usually so over food by the time the cooking is done, but my guests always seem to enjoy pumpkin bread, cranberry bread and green bean casserole the most!
I like the marshmellow peeps. Oh wait, wrong holiday.
Then, I vote for Broccoli Casserole!
Had TWO Thanksgiving meals. Turkey lunch at noon and then Turkey dinner at 7:00. I am still stuffed!
What I enjoyed the most… sweet potato casserole and mom’s cheesecake!
