We decided last Friday we needed some BBQ in our our bellies. We strapped on our feedbags and headed to downtown Raleigh to chow down on some local ‘cue. Clyde Cooper’s has been around a while for a good reason. It’s awesome despite the fact that you leave with a smell of fried chicken woven in your clothes. Overall we gave it 4 eggs from a 1 to 5 rating with 1 egg being the worst and 5 eggs being the best. Kevin Corfield, or as we call him “Lunch Lady” gave it a perfect 5. “I reckon it’s delicious,” said the lunch lover.

The Chinese Buffet Team highly reccomends

Chinese Buffet Fridays

Here’s how it went down:

Steve: Hey John, want to grab lunch?
John: Sure, watcha thinking?
Steve: How about Chinese Buffet?
John: Chinese Buffet?
Steve: Chinese Buffet! C’mon you know you want to.
John: (John shows hesitation by grimacing and placing a hand on his gut) Eeeeerrrrreeeee I don’t know man.
Steve: Yeah, you’re right, I’ll probably just overeat anyway. How about Sawmill instead?
John: I can do Sawmill.

Pretty riveting dialogue eh? But that is how Chinese Buffet Friday came to be. The only rule of Chinese Buffet is no Chinese Buffet – which we’ve only broken once. Just think, we’ve saved ourselves from thousands of calories, mounds of MSG, iffy sanitation scores and other mysteries of Chinese Buffets. What we’ve gained by going out of our way to avoid them, is exposure to some of Raleigh’s funnest, tastiest places to eat lunch:
Mellow Mushroom, Salsa Fresh, Rudino’s, Sawmill, Flying Saucer and so many more yet to be discovered.

In upcoming posts, members from the Chinese Buffet lunch club will write restaurant reviews and share pics from our outings.

Enjoy your meal. Or, as they say in China, mànmàn chī!
