We certainly are consistent… Over the past few years, we have had a very strong showing at the ADDY Awards and we did it again this year. We took home 16 ADDYs — eight gold, four silver, three bronze and a Judges’ Choice.
The majority of the honors we received were for the “Durable People” campaign created for the CORDURA® brand. We also won awards for work created for Georgia-Pacific Professional, Texas Farm Products, Invacare and for the agency itself.
Check out the press release here.

Need a New Year’s Resolution? How about being a better communicator? Here are Four Essentials that can help:
1. Be Prepared
Your audience needs to know that you:
- Have confidence in your subject
- Know more about the subject than they do
- Have analyzed the audience and are talking in their terms
- Have a purpose for your message – to inform, to entertain or to inspire
2. Make others comfortable
- Maintain your sense of humor
- Focus on empathizing
3. Be Committed
- Know what you are saying, and why you are saying it
- Care about what you are saying and you will say it well
- Control the space – how and where you move and gesture
- Control the time – your rate of speech, length of remarks, pauses and silence
4. Be Interesting
- Use analogies and help your audience remember key points
- Project optimism and enthusiasm; Others will respond to you

Mix a great group of employees, their significant others, a bit of gambling, a dash of food, and some drinks, and what do you get? … A memorable night.

Black jack, Texas hold’em, craps, roulette, and slot machines kept us busy. Then we all turned in our chips (if we had an left), and some of us went home with prizes!

Won a lot or lost every chip… it did not seem to matter. Good times were had by all!

I was watching an old episode of The Secret Millionaire over the weekend. In each episode of this reality series, a multi-millionaire lives in a poverty-stricken community for a week pretending to be working on a documentary. At the end of the week, the true identity of the millionaire is revealed as he/she gives a total of $100,000 of his/her own monies to one or more of the worthy individuals the millionaire has met during that week.
There are hundreds of non-profit organizations all over the Raleigh area. You don’t need to go “undercover” to find them. And though most of us don’t have tens of thousands of dollars to give to worthy causes, we can give our time.
There are hundreds of organizations out there that could benefit from the time and effort of volunteers. For me, I choose to use my professional knowledge and experience to help organizations with their marketing and communications needs. Though I enjoy helping my clients achieve their goals and objectives, I find it truly rewarding to help some local non-profits with promoting their admirable efforts.
If you are not volunteering already, give it a try. I’d highly recommend it.
