Art & Copy: The Movie

Every once in a while you need a swift kick in the ass to remind you why you got into this business in the first place. Art & Copy, a new documentary, is such a movie. A bunch of us from the creative department and a few account folks went to see it  at the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham. In the movie, ad legends Hal Riney, Lee Clow, George Lois, Jeff Goodby and others talk candidly about their agencies and their creative philosophies; as well as share behind-the-scenes stories about some of their most famous campaigns. It’s very inspiring. Leaves you with the feeling that you want to push further and challenge convention… not just for creativity’s sake, but because being original and memorable is what’s best for the client (and the agency). Hopefully this newly inspired state lasts until the DVD comes out in a few months. Then it’ll be time to recharge the batteries again with another viewing.
