Celebrity Internships: We All Start Somewhere

As I’m wrapping up my second week as an intern here at Howard Merrell & Partners, I’ve been doing a bit of reflecting on what I’ve learned here and at my past two internships and where these experiences may lead me.

I know I want to continue to hone my social media and advertising knowledge in the communications field, but at the same time I would like to think there are endless possibilities out there where I can apply these skills. Who knows where my life path will take me? Case in point: I have always wanted to host a show on Animal Planet.

With this in mind, I found an article on where some celebrities began their careers, and it was reassuring to learn they were all interns once too.  It came as no surprise to me that Oprah interned as an anchor for a CBS affiliate station in Nashville, and most of the other celebrities also interned in their respective fields.  However, I was pretty stunned that actress Brooke Shields interned at the San Diego Zoo – she must like animals too.

After spending some time looking at these celebrity beginnings, I can say I truly understand the importance of my internships and appreciate their value; after all, we all start somewhere, right?
