Tara's Top Three Tweets of the Month
As usual, I’ve been incredibly busy lately, and there have been a TON of great articles tweeted out that I’ve wanted to blog about. Since I’m short on time, I’ll just mention a few articles that are really, really informative and/or inspirational. And instead of sticking with just one topic like I’ve done in the past, this collection of links are quite diverse – from cool billboards to Google to typographic effects in portraits.
Artatm.com posted this great article about a month ago of their top picks for “20 Coolest Billboards from Around the World“. Here’s a great quote from the author:
“…The reality is that the billboard continues to be a marketing form that produces amazingly inspirational and inventive designs. This post brings together 20 examples of the coolest billboards of recent years.“
My personal favorite is the IKEA 3D billboard – it is a fantastic use of 3D imagery spelling the word, “Joy”, for the holidays.

Another one of the most interesting links tweeted out recently is from SBWire.com summarizing the top 5 in each category of Google’s unveiling of the 1,000 most-visited sites on the Web, which they released on May 28th. Click here for SBWire.com’s summary of the list or here for the full list from Google. The following is a quote concerning the significance of Google releasing this list:
“SearchEngineland, the US Search engine technology Web site, indicated that it is big news that Google publicly released a list of the top 1,000 sites. The expert said that it is the first time that Google officially released the 1000 Most-visited Sites and the list will update monthly, it shows google’s ambition to establish its own standard as the industry standard. The list provides the second free data for the industry after Alexa. It is more accurate than Alexa for the data comes from aggregated Google Toolbar data from users who have opted in to enhanced features, publisher opt-in anonymous Google Analytics data, opt-in external consumer panel data, and other third-party market research.“
I just discovered the site Modny73.com about a week ago and have been very impressed with their collection of articles, artwork, gadgets, and more. Yesterday, they posted an article, “30+ Creative & Intelligent Use of Typography in Portraits“, which I found to be a very inspirational and interesting compilation of artwork. All of them are really cool – here’s just a couple that really stood out to me:
