Tweet, Tweet…Meow?
Since Twitter’s launch in 2006, the social media site now has more than 21 million users and averages about 3 million tweets each day. According to the Pew Research Center, the largest percentage of users fall in the 25 to 34 age range.
I wonder if that accounts for cat years?
Odd as it may seem, one of the newest additions to the Twitter community is the cat population. Sony Computer Science Laboratories teamed up with the University of Tokyo to create a live blogging device equipped with a camera for facial recognition, an acceleration sensor and a GPS that automatically sends status updates to Twitter based on the cat’s movements, allowing our feline friends to keep us updated on how they spend their days.
Although this device seems complicated, it fits easily onto your pet’s collar. It is designed to be less than 5 percent of a cat’s body weight and should cause no discomfort. For all of you cat lovers out there, please be aware that forcing your cat to wear this against his or her will is animal abuse (yikes!).
Currently, there are only 11 set phrases to tweet, but don’t fret – Sony is working to increase this device’s repertoire. Some current phrases include: “sleeping” or “meals taste better after a walk.”
Who knew it would be easier for a cat to tweet than it is for me to do so from my Blackberry?

First tweeting cows, now tweeting…meows? http://bit.ly/cZkayr #twitter #cats
