YouTube Now on TV?
If you’re a YouTube junkie like I am, you’ll be pleased to know that YouTube is now expanding its reach and allowing users to watch their favorite videos on their televisions. Yesterday, YouTube announced the launch of YouTube Leanback, a program that plays high-definition videos formatted specifically for your television set.
YouTube Leanback is designed to mimic the typical TV experience of continuous content, so instead of having to search for new videos, YouTube Leanback streams videos one after the other based on a person’s YouTube preferences and settings. Users will also have the ability to choose content based on popular topics such as entertainment, comedy and news. A final way YouTube Leanback adds content is through Facebook. If users decide to link their YouTube accounts to Facebook, the program will automatically add videos friends have shared on Facebook to the TV stream.
YouTube Leanback has a user-friendly interface and can be operated almost completely using just the arrow keys on your computer.
This new program seems like a great way to watch short clips and music videos in a group setting, but even as someone who loves YouTube, I can’t say I would choose to watch the YouTube channel over my favorite Bravo shows. Would you?
