Harvest time – this year more people in more places are reaping a harvest – from the White House to your house.
In every economic downturn, people have turned to the land. And, as a result all things related to gardening have experienced sales growth – seeds, fertilizers, tools, plant material and more. Most recently, at home vegetable gardens were up 19%, seed sales up 30+% and canning jar sales increased by 15% (2009 vs. 2008).
These trends are expanding and extending into the coming year. Garden Media just released its Garden Trends 2011 Survey.

Cohen to Speak at ConvergeSouth
Social Media Marketing Manager, Jeffrey L. Cohen, will speak at ConvergeSouth in Greensboro, N.C., on Oct. 1, 2010. During this two-day event, social media strategists and experts will give real-world examples for developing personal branding, internet strategy for small business, and mobile applications.
Cohen will lead a session entitled “Content Marketing for Small Businesses,” which will provide tips, tricks and tools to use existing materials and business knowledge to promote a small business online.

Barnes Receives Movers & Shakers Award
Creative Director, Billy Barnes, has been named one of the 2010 Movers & Shakers by Business Leader magazine. The award recognizes business executives in the Triangle community who are leaders within their company.
During his ten-year career at Howard, Merrell & Partners, Barnes has been instrumental in helping the agency receive a myriad of national and international recognition for its creative work. Under Barnes’ direction, the agency’s Creative team won Telly Awards, Addys, Graphis and The London International Advertising Awards. Cohen to Speak at B2B Social Commerce Summit in Atlanta
Social Media Marketing Manager, Jeffrey L. Cohen, will speak at “Lift: The B2B Social Commerce Summit” in Atlanta, Sept. 23, 2010. During this one-day event, marketing and advertising professionals will give real-world examples of social commerce strategies and tactics.
Cohen will moderate the conference’s “Social Shopping for B2B” panel, that will address the effects of community-based flash sale sites, B2B companies’ participation in the social shopping trend and new sales techniques and outlets.
