#NewTwitter: "A new bird, a new experience"
As usual, I woke up this morning and turned on my computer to send out the first tweet of the day to my followers. With the curser blinking and ready, I wondered what was taking me so long to tweet. Suddenly, I realized that everything was different.
Just a few days ago, Twitter launched the new Twitter.com. If you haven’t seen the switch yet, here are four reasons you should get excited:
- New design: There is a single streamlined view of @mentions, retweets, searches and lists on the top left hand side of your screen. The right side of the screen shows recent followers, who you have recently followed and trending topics. I think this makes it much easier to navigate through Twitter. I would often forget to check my @mentions, and now that will no longer be a problem.
- Embedded photos and videos: Recent partnerships with DailyBooth, DeviantART, Etsy, Flickr and YouTube make it easier to see embedded photos and videos. For instance, if you expand a tweet with a video link in it then the video will pop up in the screen next to the tweet.

- Discover related content: When you click on a tweet, you will also receive additional information related to the author or subject. For instance: I retweet someone and my friend clicks on my tweet. Not only will my tweet show up, but so will the original tweet. This cuts down on search time for the source of an original tweet.
- Mini profiles: If you just want to learn more about a Twitter user but do not want to navigate away from the feed, now you can. Click on a user’s name and their mini profile will pop up with a bio and recent tweets.
