Joshua Craig, Photographer Extraordinaire
Here at Howard Merrell & Partners, we have a pretty talented group. And I am not just talking creative advertising and branding. Each month we are featuring the hidden talents and hobbies that our team members pursue outside of the office. This month, the incredibly unique photography of Joshua Craig, web developer and systems administrator here at HM&P, is displayed in our café.
Now these are not just snapshots of landscapes, sunsets or flowers. The photographs are much more exciting. Joshua has a particular interest in roller derby, and an even bigger interest in capturing the sport behind the lens. The display in the office features photos of the Carolina Roller Girls, one of Joshua’s favorite subjects to shoot.

I will be honest and say that I have never paid much attention to roller derby. Before talking to Joshua, I really did not understand the sport at all. After viewing his photographs, though, as I think many of you will agree, there is a recipe of intensity and beauty unlike any other sport.
Why roller derby? Joshua needed something interesting. He says that the crowd, the fast pace and the challenge of shooting the sport provides him with all the excitement he needs.
Be sure to check out more of Joshua’s photos on his Flickr account and his personal photography site. Stay tuned for more featured work from the HM&P team!
