Weekly Wrap Up #16 – It’s all about Facebook

This week in Facebook!

Yes, that’s right. This week’s wrap up is all about Facebook. The mega-awesome, all-inspiring, IPO-releasing (eventually…), Facebook.

1. How to get more likes and comments on Facebook

The stats may catch you off guard, but there are many features about Facebook that we often overlook. All Facebook has compiled the stats, brought some awareness to the topic and addressed some simple, easy ways to boost your commenting and likes on Facebook. Pose questions, invite users to a call-to-action, and bring out the best in your fans!

2. Timeline for Everybody!

This week Facebook is rolling out their new Timeline feature for everybody. If you don’t have it yet, poke around at some of your friends who do! It’s a great feature (in my opinion). On the flip-side, though, you get one week to clean it up! What does that mean? Timeline’s ability to go back years, rather quickly, in your profile means those pictures from the awesome party sophomore year of college – yeah, they’re just that much easier to find now.  So take some time if you don’t have Timeline yet, and clean your act up, and enjoy the new features.

3. 12 posts to get more engagement

Changing the language, asking questions, posting photos, different ways of posting on Facebook have led to more engagement from fans than others. AMEX’s Open Forum shares 12 different post types which show more engagement. Give these a shot and see how they fare!

4. Will Facebook’s Timeline revolutionize brand pages?

Not only does Facebook’s Timeline have an interesting reorganization structure, but it also gives users (maybe brands soon?) the opportunity to liven up their pages. The ability to tell a story, and bring more prominence to features, events, and many other creative opportunities is fantastic. Do you think Timeline will bring about a new creative gene and revolutionize brand pages?

5. What makes Facebook users Like?

Inc.com writer Erik Sherman shares more thoughts on the question, “What do Facebook users Like?” In an interesting statistic he brings up, he states, “…only 7.5 percent of Facebook users subscribed to business fan pages see posts from those pages daily.” I know that, personally, I have quite a few pages liked. I only want to see some of them on a day-to-day basis (dang it, I’m a statistic). The pages that I do want to see every day, provide value. They give me something useful, or entertaining, every time I see them, not just occasionally. What makes you like a page?
