One way to get a job in advertising
This guy took out google ads for 5 Creative Directors. And it worked.
Clow & Bogusky chat
Great conversation between Lee Clow & Alex Bogusky on the business. There are several parts. Here’s the first. Watch them all:
For Chris G
I was reminded today that sometimes I forget to tell people what a great job they’re doing. Guppy, this one’s for you:
What's your message?
You have to think through your communication carefully or else it could send a different message than the one you intended. This one, for example, makes me want to run out and buy a bottle of JD just as fast as I can.

BASF Field Trip
A group of us just took a farm tour of Indiana, Minnesota and Upstate New York on behalf of our client, BASF Plant Science, to see NutriDense out in the field. Literally. Nutridense is a trait that, among other things, gives corn (for grain and silage) a nutritional boost. You can learn all about it at nutridense.com. We learned a ton. Met some amazing grain growers and dairymen. And yes, got our hands a little dirty. There’s no better way to learn. See a few pics from the trip here:
New Work
New work has been added to the agency website for Cordura, Dixie and Precise Dog Food. It’s good stuff. Nice job to all who played a part in its creation. Check it out when you have a moment at www.merrellgroup.com
Focus Group for Socks
We don’t usually like focus groups here at HM&P, but this one was different. While pitching a sock manufacturer, we got a little group together and asked a few questions. Very insightful.
Is this a calf or what?
The lower leg muscle of our very own Steve O, copywriter/leg model. I challenge everyone in the agency to work the legs this summer. First day of fall we have a leg lineup for a Calf Competition.
We'll get there eventually
Saw this snail crawling across a brick walkway. Looked like he had somewhere important to go. Got the video camera, slapped in some mood music with the help of Garage Band, and boom – nature film. This is actual speed. No slow mo here. Notice the little ant hitching a ride off the right antenna. He must not have been in a hurry. Enjoy – Billy
