Whitney Rigsbee has joined Howard, Merrell & Partners as an Account Coordinator on the PR team. She will be supporting Georgia-Pacific Professional and some of our agriculture clients.
She comes to us from Genesis Marketing Partners in Cary where she developed and executed public relations campaigns for local, regional and national accounts.

Welcome, Whitney!
Welcome Cameron!
A familiar face around the office, Cameron Reed has been working part-time for us supporting the BASF Plant Science and Butterball accounts. She has done a fantastic job, so we have brought her on full-time as an Account Coordinator.
Before joining us, Cameron interned at PRStreet in Cary where she provided event planning support, conducted media outreach and developed press kit materials. She recently graduated from N.C. State, magna cum laude, with a BA in communications and a minor in business.

Crisis Management and Innovation at its best
The Chilean Mining story has caught everyone’s attention. As it should. It is certainly a story of human strength and resolve. It’s a story of teamwork, innovation and outstanding crisis response. Most people can relate to these themes in some way or another.
Here at Howard, Merrell & Partners we deal with these basic issues to help our clients meet their marketing objectives.
In watching coverage of the rescue of the 33 last night, it was reported that case studies dealing with medicine, crisis response and business, at least, will be soon in coming. It will be interesting to see what we can learn from the harrowing effort – both strategies on the ground and below, in the mine.
Yikes!

Meredith and Elizabeth Twins for a Day
Fellow PR team member, Meredith Schneider, and I were twins on Monday. We knew we had the same blouse, but neither called the other to say we were planning to wear it. I guess great minds think alike! We had a good laugh about it.
Right at home
The recent baby boom at HM&P has shown our team’s knack for multitasking. Pictured here during a meeting are Laura McAliley with her 4-month old daughter, Katy, and Nicole Curtis who is due any day now! More »
Howard, Merrell & Partners Lends Hispanic Marketing Expertise
As you may know, Howard, Merrell & Partners’ newest offering is Hispanic Marketing. Well, the agency’s expertise was recently sought out by El Pueblo, Inc., North Carolina Hispanic advocacy group, to help communicate a very important message about safe driving to young Hispanic males. That campaign attracted the attention of the News & Observer http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/07/16/583449/safe-driving-ads-aimed-at-latinos.html#storylink.
Hob Knobbing with a White House Guest!
Everyone loves to have the opportunity to hob knob! Well yesterday, several members from Howard, Merrell & Partners’ Public Relations team got to mingle with this week’s Super Star – his name is “Courage” and he will be pardoned by President Obama on the White House lawn this week. This year’s National Thanksgiving Turkey was raised by one of our very own client’s Butterball, LLC in partnership with Goldsboro Milling Company, Inc.
The event, held on the Worley Family Farm, was much fun! Guests included NC Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler and other elected officials and VIPs from Butterball, LLC, Maxwell Farms, LLC/Goldsboro Milling Company and Smithfield Foods, Inc. The Worley family, which raised the bird, were also present and were recognized for their vital role in raising the bird.
All local TV affiliates attended as well as several print and radio, and the team is now busy at work collecting information on the media coverage resulting from the event.

Team members photographed with Courage, include: Claire Howell, Emily Packard and Elizabeth Romero
We get to do the fun stuff!

Elizabeth and Claire on the Farm
A fun part of what we do is being able to experience new people, places and things. From going to a trade show to organizing an event or media tour to visiting a farm and learning how farmers care for the health of their animals and crops. The opportunity to step into the lives of farmers who have done what they do for generations to help feed Americans is an honor.
Claire and I recently visited a farm. As you can see by our fancy head-to-toe attire, several precautions are taken to protect the animals from outside harm.
International PR Example: Can you read this?

HM&P’s PR team goes to the ends of the world to meet the needs of its clients. Recently, the team has been charged with disseminating information
