Howard, Merrell & Partners is pleased to partner with The Wine Feed, a specialty online wine retailer and event venue based in Raleigh, N.C., as agency of record. Through this partnership, we provide The Wine Feed with strategic communications, public relations, media relations and social media marketing counsel to help the business increase its national awareness while also strengthening relationships with key local audiences.
We have already helped The Wine Feed to announce its one-year anniversary, garner media attention and build its brand through communication efforts. The agency’s strategic communication initiatives and event planning support have helped recruit new customers and raise visibility for the company’s products, special events and educational offerings.

A Promotion for Shavette!
Shavette Purvis has been promoted to Analytics Manager. A member of the Interactive Department, she leads analytics efforts for many of our clients, providing key performance indicators and advising on trends and optimizations. Shavette is responsible for developing integrated marketing analytical solutions across customers and channels to improve client decision-making. She monitors, analyzes and reports on the performance of websites, email campaigns, display advertising, paid search and social media executions.
Prior to joining our agency, Shavette spent 10 years working in the Big Apple as a research analyst at Katz Media Group, The CW Network and Hachette Filipacchi Media. Since joining the agency a little over a year ago, she has brought new levels of sophistication and measurement to our client’s campaigns and made significant contributions in improving campaign results.

Three New Members of the HMP Family
Welcome aboard to Greg de Lima, Samantha Stanyon and Courtney Williams. They are the newest additions of the PR and social media department.
A social media and digital analyst, de Lima creates and evaluates digital strategies and supports all social media efforts. Courtney and Sam, both Peace College alumnae, were brought on as account coordinators. In this capacity, they manage media and blogger relations, event and tradeshow logistics, and social media efforts.
Prior to joining our team, Greg served as a lead content strategist at French | West | Vaughan where he conducted research and constructed online content strategies. A graduate of Appalachian State University, he received a bachelor’s degree in international business.
Sam interned with us prior to joining the agency fulltime. While in college, she was a new business development intern at Nextaff and did event planning work on campus. Sam graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications studies with a PR concentration.
A May 2011 graduate, Courtney has a bachelor’s degree in communication with a mass communication concentration and completed five internships while in college, ranging from agency to nonprofit. She has a deep background in writing and was instrumental in launching the Peace College Reel Peace Film Festival.
They are bright and energetic, and bring individual strengths to our expanding team. We are excited to have them on board!

Christina Woods promoted to Digital Media Supervisor
I am thrilled to announce Christina’s promotion to Digital Media Supervisor. Christina’s contributions to the agency are many and her enthusiasm is contagious.
She has done a terrific job managing ALL of our clients’ digital media schedules. Her results-oriented approach benefits our clients and their business goals and her expertise has contributed to the agency’s expanding digital capabilities.
Christina is a great conduit between clients and the Agency as well as within the agency. Her never ending quest for knowledge and more importantly her desire to share it, is a great asset to the Agency. She started our monthly Curiosity Confabulation series and is always looking for ways to bring us together to expand our knowledge base.

HM&P Takes Home Green Awards for GP Professional
Recently, the HM&P team submitted Georgia-Pacific Professional’s Ecologo Brochure and Dixie® PerfecTouch® “100% Not” banner ad to the Go Green Advertising Awards (GGA Awards) and came out with a win!
The Go Green Advertising Awards embody national-level advertising programs that are specifically developed to promote “green” products or services. The GGA Awards can include all media types, so long as messaging promotes green initiatives; including: organic, fair trade, recycling and other green efforts. As such, the GGA Awards accept print, radio, video, and almost all forms of media.
As people grow more concerned with the future of our planet, many companies are looking for ways to extend natural resources and condone a more sustainable future. HM&P Wins 10 ADDY® Awards
RALEIGH, N.C. – February 23, 2012 – Strategic advertising and branding agency Howard, Merrell & Partners was a big winner at the recent local ADDY Awards Banquet. The agency brought home 10 awards, including a prestigious Judges Choice recognition for an out-of-home campaign executed on behalf of Georgia-Pacific Professional.
The ADDY Awards is the world’s largest advertising competition. This year’s local competition, sponsored by the Raleigh-Durham chapter of the American Advertising Federation, was held on Feb. 17. A panel of advertising professionals evaluated the entries, and gold awards will advance for judging in a district competition and finally the national competition.
HM&P Wins Four 2011 Best of NAMA Awards
Howard, Merrell & Partners, strategic advertising and branding agency in Raleigh, N.C., recently received four awards by the National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA) Carolinas/Virginia chapter for its effective agricultural communications on behalf of Butterball, LLC. The awards were presented during the annual Best of NAMA awards ceremony held at Mez Contemporary Mexican restaurant in Durham, N.C.

HM&P Promotes Ellen Wayland to Media Director
Strategic advertising and branding agency Howard, Merrell & Partners today announces the promotion of Ellen Wayland to media director.
A seasoned media veteran, Wayland has coordinated strategic and impactful campaigns at Howard, Merrell & Partners for more than 25 years. In her new role, Wayland will provide leadership to the media team and oversee all the activities of the department. The department handles the planning, buying and reconciliation of all media – online, print, broadcast and non-traditional – for the agency’s clients.

HM&P Wins 4 Best of NAMA Awards on Behalf of Butterball, LLC
This Tuesday, Howard, Merrell & Partners were presented four awards at the National Agri-Marketing Association’s Carolina/Virginia “Best of NAMA” ceremony, for effective agricultural communications through community, internal and public relations campaigns.

The team at HM&P won the following awards on behalf of the client, Butterball, LLC:
- Chapter First and Regional First – 2011 “Turkey Tales” bilingual internal newsletter, which works to communicate corporate news and information, while also boosting workplace morale among Butterball’s nearly 4,000 associates.
- Chapter First and Regional Merit – 2010 “Celebrate Agriculture” public relations campaign, through which Butterball partnered with Weekly Reader to demonstrate how responsible agricultural practices lead to healthy animals and safe, high-quality food for consumers. Targeting consumer classrooms and agricultural-based communities in Butterball’s production facility locations, communication efforts reached an audience of more than 173 million.
- Chapter and Regional Merit – 2010 press release announcing the company’s charitable donation of 330,000 pounds of turkey products, communicating Butterball’s commitment to fighting hunger by providing wholesome turkey products to those in need.
- Chapter Merit – 2010 Millionth Bird events held at Butterball’s two Arkansas whole-bird processing facilities in celebration of the millionth fresh bird produced during the 2010 holiday season.
The National Agri-Marketing Association’s annual “Best of NAMA” awards recognizes the best work in agricultural communications, both regionally as well as on a national level.
